It seems my slack is about to pay off. Unlike most women I know, going to the hair salon is not my favorite thing and I put it off as long as possible. There are so many things not to like about the entire experience, like the $$$, the small chat that is required, and being picked at for two or three hours. The whole thing makes me come unglued, so I delay.
The last time I had my hair colored professionally was in February, so that makes it one, two, three… SEVEN months. I’ve been relying on Clairol Root Touch-Up to disguise my roots around my part. It takes 20 minutes, I don’t have to chat myself up and it’s just me touching myself. Everything looks great on the surface, but if I part my hair a different way, you can see a solid three inches or so of natural hair color. I have accidentally given myself Hollywood’s trendiest hair style.
You’ve heard about the ombre hair color trend, right? It’s when the hair from the roots to the middle is darker and the rest of the hair is lighter. It was all the rage in fashion a couple of seasons ago, but is now the current trend in celebrity hair.
Here’s Drew Barrymore and Rachel Bilson with the look.
And here’s Kristin Cavallari literally walking out of the salon where she likely paid an obscene amount of money to get the ombre look. And the Farrah Fawcett, apparently.
And here I am, in all my hair slacking glory. Please be ignoring the gray.
So do I rock my ombre hair in suburbia or take myself back to the salon like a big girl?

This is the look I rock for the exact same reasons you do. Except I REALLY like getting my hair washed. ( Is the scalp an erogenous zone?) I say Rock It In Suburbia (should be a song title)!!! My gal told me that this look was in when i saw her a few weeks back and asked her to touch up all the grey roots and faded ends. She did the roots, left the brassy faded ends alone and now look at me!! For the first time ever I’m mildly hip!!!

I took a several month long hiatus from hairstylists after being disastrously, tragically overhighlighted. My new stylist told me the resulting dark roots were all the rage. Don’t think so.

One thing I’d like to say is the fact that before purchasing more personal computer memory, have a look at the machine into which it will be installed. Today, I went to the beach front with my children.
